OVERVIEW :
The National Sales Manager, Americas is responsible for executing and managing Hardinge’s sales programs as it relates to our SUPER-PRECISION, Grinding and Workholding product lines. This leadership position will report directly to the America’s President with high visibility to the broader executive team. The National Sales Manager also has managing responsibility of presales activities including Applications, Inside Sales and Customer Service.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus, with 7-10 years’ experience in machine tool sales management or relevant industrial sales management. Extensive experience with Sales Performance Management, CRM Systems, Forecasting & AOP Planning and Team Building Techniques.
SPECIFIC REQUIRED SKILLS :
Strategic orientation with the ability to formulate and execute a sales strategy that aligns with corporate goals.
Team building and influencing skills that allow for effective talent recruitment and professional development amongst the new and existing team members.
Strong track record of executing result driven organizational behavior that rewards success while holding individuals accountable for their individual performance.
Selling experience including relationship and network building, understanding of customer needs, a value-based selling approach and the ability to develop specific platform knowledge for deal shaping capability.
Up to 50% travel could be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Manage the sales efforts for the Americas region from pipeline building to after sales support that achieves growth targets and builds for future success.
Establish departmental KPIs, Health Metrics and Reporting Mechanisms to effectively measure and support your team members.
Develop annual objectives and goals that identify organic growth opportunities through specific and measurable initiative programs.
Develop an application training program that continues to build internal resources and expertise to support a solution based selling approach.
Build back-end office support groups with the inside sales and customer service teams that work cohesively with outside sales to maximize efficiency.
Maintain regular forecasting and reporting metrics to present to the leadership team on a regular basis.
Maintain monthly forecasting and reporting needs for sales management functions.
Take part in corporate events such as trade shows, trainings, and open houses.

The Bench Hand position is responsible for the assembling product according to blueprint specifications. In addition, this position performs some product processing duties, as well as shipping and receiving duties.
The requirements for this position are as follows:
EDUCATION :
High school diploma required. Certificate or technical training in a vocational program strongly preferred. Experience in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE :
Experience with common manufacturing materials and machining processes required. Must possess solid computer literacy skills. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally as part of a team required.
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE :
General math, basic blueprint knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to operate a fork-lift.
Collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
Proficiency using a wide range of precision measuring equipment, test equipment, fixtures, and other devises to assure form, fit, and operation of assembled components.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Operate hand and power tools to assist in assembly operation.
Perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to specifications.
Prepare products for shipping, monitor shipping materials and methods.
Unpack incoming shipments, inspect for accuracy and quality.
Product processing, job routing, scheduling, and purchasing of manufacturing resources.
Perform assessment of returned products, document results.
Assist with machine maintenance including coolant changes and lubrication.
Assist with facility maintenance duties.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
Work cooperatively, sharing knowledge with other members of the team.

Machinists are responsible for setting up and operating varieties of machines to fabricate work pieces to blueprint specifications. This position is responsible for the set up and operation of conventional machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist will support maximum spindle utilization time, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to comply with customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations.
The position requirements for the Machinist positions are as follows:
EDUCATION :
Two-year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required.
EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Machinist preferred.
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE :
General math, basic blueprint knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
Knowledge of machine parts and tools including, lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders and a variety of hand tools.
Written and verbal communication skills, ability to work cooperatively with other team members.
Willingness to learn and at times teach others.
Understanding of the manufacturing process and their impact to the process downstream.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced tools to perform precision machining operations.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Set and monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
Perform and document routine maintenance to machine, equipment, and area.
Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment in compliance with company expectations. Including machines and tools.

The CNC & Grind Machinist is responsible for programming, set-up, and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and/or grinding machines. This role is responsible for the efficient run of production lots and inspection of work produced using a wide range of precision measurement instruments.
The requirements for this position are as follows:
EDUCATION :
High School Diploma or GED required. Certificate from a technical school majoring in Machine Tool Technology or similar course curriculum required. A minimum of two years of experience as a Machinist accepted in lieu of certificate.
EXPERIENCE :
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Machinist required. Experience with Mazak and Okuma CNC mills, lathes and grinding machines required. Experience with common manufacturing materials and machining processes required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally required. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5-S practices strongly preferred.
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE :
Proficiency using a wide range of precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
Production machining experience with ability to finish to specifications.
Skill in load / unload parts on machines to support maximum spindle utilization time.
Skill in inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements.
Ability to detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
Ability to work from engineering drawings.

Perform all assigned machine shop operations: turning, milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, de-burring, etc.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
Perform inspection of machined products, document results.
Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.
