Silicon Carbide

With over 130 years of industry-leading experience, along with innovation from top advanced materials experts including SiO2, SiN, AlN, and SiC, Hardinge is proud to offer an all-in-one pioneering solution for SiC manufacturing.

We have extensive experience in machining SiC material for semiconductor applications and have successfully executed all major boule to puck process steps for 150mm and 200mm material including OD, XRD to determine crystal structure, flat and notch application, as well as dome/seed side removal. By integrating and perfecting these steps, we have optimized the SiC manufacturing process into a single machine design to provide crystal producers with the most efficient and lowest cost solution to machine boules.

We focused on building special Multi-tasking CNC Grinders, CNC 5 axis Vertical Machining Centers, and CNC SUPER-PRECISION lathes to machine components made from advanced ceramic materials including silicon carbide, silicon nitride, aluminum nitride, quartz, zirconia, mullite, alumina, ferrites, etc. We machine advanced ceramic for the parts used in semiconductor processing machinery with super precision, faster and cheaper.

Hardinge CNC machines have been successfully sold in the USA market for more than 130 years. Our factory is using advanced intelligent technology and provides more services to the global high-end machine tool market. A machine shop equipped with only two Hardinge CNC machines can produce the same output at a cheaper cost as compared to another shop with 8 machines.
